Herman and Mildred Karlin + Betty Foltzman |
|
Taken in Minnapolis Kan. July 1926[1] |
Who's Who
- Herman Karlin
- Mildred Karlin
- Betty Foltzman[2]
Story
Apparently the Herman Karlin family has stopped in Minneapolis, Kansas on their return trip home to Columbus, Nebraska after having visited with the William Brunken family near Lahoma, Oklahoma. Note that Mildred and Herman, Mildred and Betty are wearing the same clothes that they have on in the picture of the Karlins leaving the William Brunken family.
Probably it was Louise (Brunken) Karlin who took the picture.
Date
July, 1926.
Location
Minneapolis, Kansas - was there a specific reason for stopping in Minneapolis? [3]
Notes
- Scanned on December 7, 2014 from a picture album prepared by Hilda Ida Brunken.
- Email from Betty Meyn, January 8, 2015. "As to Betty Foltzman, she has no relationship with either family. She was a very dear friend of Louise (Brunken) Karlin. They met at a nursing school and then she lived with Herman and Louise when Mildred was a little girl. She did 24 hour nursing care but used Louise and Herman's home as a base when she was not working (similar to what the current home care nurses do today.) She later married William Neary and moved to Iowa. Louise and Betty N. stayed very close throughout their lives. Betty and Bill always felt that mom (Mildred) had named me after her as I was born on Bill's birthday. I visited her a number of times with my grandparents and parents in Sheldon IA."
- Email from Betty Meyn, January 8, 2015. "As to the pictures being taken in Minneapolis, KS. I have no idea on the significance other than what you thought--they were both traveling to NE and stopped to view the area, have lunch, or just to rest. I even talked with mom and she did not know anything about Minneapolis being something special."
